Product Description

The Backbone of Every Facade and Frame

A curtain wall doesn’t float. It hangs. And what it hangs from — whether a cantilevered canopy, a transfer truss, or a wind bracing girder — is a steel beam. These beams transfer the weight of glass, stone, and metal panels back to the primary structure, often across spans of 10 meters or more.

Not every project can use a standard off-the-shelf beam. Architectural geometries demand tapered profiles. Constrained slab edges require reduced web depths. High wind loads require stiffener patterns that don’t exist in a stock list. In these cases, the beam must be custom-fabricated to the structural engineer’s exact specification.

Fabao Machinery fabricates custom steel beams for curtain wall support, canopy structures, and industrial steelwork. We cut, drill, weld stiffeners, and coat — delivering beams ready to erect.

Steel Beam Profile Selection Guide

Profile Shape Best For Typical Use
H-Beam / Wide Flange H-shaped, parallel flanges Heavy vertical loads, large spans Curtain wall transfer beams, canopy girders
Box Beam (RHS) Rectangular hollow section Torsional resistance, clean aesthetics Exposed architectural beams, slim sightlines
Channel Beam (U/C) U-shaped open section Secondary members, edge beams Mullion backing, parapet supports
T-Beam T-shape, single flange Slab edge connections, low-profile Curtain wall perimeter support at floor slabs
Built-Up / Welded Beam Custom plate assembly Non-standard depths, high loads Transfer trusses, crane beams, special geometry

All profiles can be fabricated with web stiffeners, end plates, and cut-outs per drawing.

Applications

  • Curtain Wall Transfer Beams – Custom H-beams spanning column-free atria, supporting mullion loads from multiple floors above.

  • Canopy & Awning Primary Beams – Cantilevered box beams or H-beams for entrance canopies, resisting wind uplift and snow load.

  • Steel Frame Corner Reinforcements – Portal frame beams in low-rise commercial and industrial buildings.

  • Roof Truss Members – Welded built-up sections for long-span roof trusses in stadiums and exhibition halls.

  • Machinery Support Beams – Heavy I-beams for overhead crane runways and equipment platforms in factories.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the maximum length you can fabricate in a single piece?

We can fabricate beams up to 12 meters in one piece without a factory weld splice. Longer lengths (up to 18m) are achieved with full-penetration butt welds, inspected before coating.

2. Can you do tapered or non-uniform beams?

Yes. Tapered beams — with varying web depth along the length — are fabricated by cutting and welding plates. Send the profile diagram and we’ll confirm feasibility.

3. How do you control straightness and camber after welding?

Beams are checked on a flat inspection bed after welding. For beams requiring a specified camber, we pre-set the profile before welding and verify the final camber with a taught wire or laser.

4. What surface treatment do you recommend for exposed architectural beams?

For interior exposed beams, a zinc-rich primer with an epoxy or polyurethane topcoat in any RAL color. For exterior or coastal exposure, hot-dip galvanizing followed by a duplex coating system is recommended. We can arrange both.

5. Do you supply with pre-drilled connection holes for other Fabao parts (e.g., U-brackets, embed plates)?

Yes. We frequently pre-drill beam flanges and webs to match our own connection parts — embed plates, U-brackets, angle brackets — ensuring perfect alignment on site.

Why Fabao for Steel Beams?

  • Wide Profile Capability – H-beam, box, channel, and built-up sections fabricated under one roof.

  • Stiffener & End Plate Welding – Full-penetration CO₂ welding with visual and dimensional QC on every beam.

  • In-House Galvanizing – Two galvanizing lines handle beams up to 12m with consistent coating coverage.

  • Integration with Your Connection Parts – Order beams, embed plates, and brackets together; we’ll pre-drill matching holes.

  • Export-Ready Palletizing – Beams packed with timber separators, strapped on heavy-duty pallets for ocean freight.
