Product Description
Lightweight, Corrosion-Free, Aesthetically Matched
When the entire curtain wall framing is aluminum, introducing a steel connector creates two problems: galvanic corrosion risk and aesthetic mismatch. Aluminum 90° corner braces solve both. They match the framing material, eliminate bimetallic contact, and weigh roughly one-third of an equivalent steel bracket — reducing dead load on the structure.
Fabao Machinery supplies extruded aluminum 90° corner braces in 6063-T5 for standard applications and 6061-T6 where higher tensile strength is required. Every bracket is cut, deburred, drilled, and anodized under one quality system, ensuring your installers open the box and bolt them straight on.
Aluminum vs. Steel: Which 90° Bracket Do You Need?
| Factor | Aluminum (6063-T5) | Carbon Steel (Q235B HDG) |
|---|---|---|
| Weight | Approx. 2.7 g/cm³ — lightweight | Approx. 7.85 g/cm³ — nearly 3× heavier |
| Corrosion Resistance | Natural oxide layer + anodizing; excellent in urban & coastal | Relies on HDG coating; may need maintenance if coating is scratched |
| Aesthetic Integration | Anodized to match aluminum framing profiles | Visible galvanized finish — often needs painting |
| Weldability | Not suitable for field welding | Fully weldable for steel-to-steel connections |
| Typical Use | Aluminum curtain wall transom/mullion joints, window subframes, solar racking | Steel frame corners, embed plate connections, heavy structural bracing |
| Cost | Competitive for light/medium loads | More economical for high-volume heavy-duty applications |

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the difference between 6063-T5 and 6061-T6 for angle brackets?
6063-T5 offers excellent extrudability and surface finish — ideal for standard curtain wall brackets with good corrosion resistance. 6061-T6 provides higher tensile strength (approx. 310 MPa vs 185 MPa) and is recommended for brackets carrying heavier loads or where a higher safety factor is required.
2. Can I get anodizing in a specific color?
Clear (silver), black, and bronze are standard. Custom anodized colors or powder coating to any RAL number are available on request for larger production runs.
3. Will aluminum brackets corrode when in contact with stainless steel bolts?
Aluminum in contact with stainless steel can experience galvanic corrosion in the presence of an electrolyte (rainwater, condensation). We recommend using isolating washers or nylon bushings. We can supply suitable fasteners as an add-on if needed.
4. Do you provide test certificates for mechanical properties?
Yes. Material certificates (mill test reports) for 6063-T5 or 6061-T6 are available upon request. Additional mechanical testing (tensile, hardness) can be arranged for project-specific requirements.
5. What if I need a profile shape that is not standard?
We can develop custom extrusion dies for non-standard leg widths, reinforced rib profiles, or integrated stiffening features. Lead time for new die development is typically 15–20 days.
Why Fabao for Aluminum Angle Brackets?
