Product Description
The Adjustable Workhorse of Curtain Wall Fixing
Embed plates are cast. Brackets are bolted. But between them sits a component that solves what every installation team encounters on site: the gap, the offset, the accumulated tolerance.
That component is the U-channel connector — sometimes called a U-bracket, slotted channel, or adjustable cleat. Its open U-profile wraps around a beam or embed plate, and its slotted legs allow bolts to slide freely during positioning. Once aligned, bolts are torqued and the connection becomes rigid. No field cutting. No welding. Just adjustment, alignment, and fastening.
Fabao Machinery produces U-channel connectors in carbon steel and stainless steel, with slot configurations tailored to your adjustment range. Every piece arrives deburred and coated, ready for immediate installation.

The slot provides ±15mm to ±30mm of on-site adjustment in two directions — compensating for concrete pour variations and steel erection tolerances. Once bolts are tightened, the serrated or plain contact faces lock under friction.
Applications
-
Embed Plate to Bracket Connection – U-connector bridges the gap between a cast-in embed plate and the curtain wall support bracket, providing vertical and horizontal adjustment.
-
Steel Beam to Beam Connection – Slotted U-channels used as cleats for secondary beam connections where some site adjustment is required before final bolt-up.
-
Canopy & Awning Support Arms – Adjustable U-brackets at the connection between canopy beam ends and building structure, allowing fine-tuning of canopy angle.
-
Mullion Base / Head Connections – U-shaped shoe connectors at the top and bottom of curtain wall mullions to accommodate floor slab deflection and installation tolerances.
-
Pipe & Conduit Supports – U-channel brackets as pipe clamps and conduit supports within building services and industrial equipment.

Before You Order: A Quick Checklist
Use this checklist to specify your U-connector requirements precisely:
-
Web width (W): The flat inner face that sits against the embed plate or beam.
-
Leg height (H): Depth of the U — must accommodate the bolt head and washer.
-
Total length (L): Determines how many bolts per connector and adjustment range.
-
Slot type: Continuous slot or multi-hole slotted? Slot orientation — vertical, horizontal, or cross-slotted?
-
Surface treatment: HDG for outdoor, pre-galvanized for interior/dry, electro for contact with aluminum.
-
Bolt spec: We can supply matching bolts (M10, M12, M16) in stainless or carbon steel.
-
Quantity per box: Standard carton of 100 pcs; custom packaging on request.
Send us these parameters along with your drawing, and we’ll confirm feasibility within 12 hours.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the difference between a U-connector and a standard angle bracket?
A U-connector wraps around or receives a member inside its channel, typically providing adjustment via slots. An angle bracket connects two surfaces at a fixed 90° corner. U-connectors are for adjustable, linear connections; angle brackets are for fixed corner connections.
2. Can you produce U-connectors with slots on both legs?
Yes. Double-slotted U-connectors allow adjustment on both sides of the connection — common in mullion base shoes and beam-to-beam cleats.
3. What if I need a U-connector bent from a single plate rather than welded?
All our U-connectors are press-braked from a single steel plate — no welds on the profile itself. This maintains material integrity and reduces potential corrosion points.
4. Do you offer serrated contact faces for better slip resistance?
Serrated or indented contact faces are available upon request for applications where high slip resistance is required under vibration loads.
5. How are U-connectors packaged to prevent deformation in transit?
U-connectors are nested in stacks, separated by cardboard interlayers, and packed in reinforced export cartons on pallets. For heavy-gauge parts (>6mm), steel strapping is used.
