Product Description

Simple Shape, Zero Margin for Error

A flat rectangular plate. Four holes. That’s it. No bends, no welds, no moving parts. In terms of complexity, it’s the simplest connection component in any steel structure. But in terms of what can go wrong, it punches far above its weight.

If one hole is off by half a millimeter, the bolt won’t pass through. If the plate isn’t perfectly flat, the joint sits uneven. If the edge distance is too small, the structural engineer won’t sign off. A flat plate connector leaves nowhere to hide — you either get it right, or the installer sends it back.

Fabao Machinery manufactures flat plate connectors with four pre-drilled holes to your exact specifications. Every plate is laser-cut or sheared flat, hole-punched or drilled with CNC precision, and checked for dimensional accuracy before surface treatment. Because sometimes the simplest part is the one that demands the most discipline.

Flat Plate vs. Angle Bracket: Which One Suits Your Joint?

Factor 4-Hole Flat Plate 90° Angle Bracket
Joint Type Butt joint, splice, or overlapping flat surfaces Two perpendicular members meeting at a corner
Space Envelope Minimal — stays within member thickness + bolt head Larger — extends in two directions
Installation Bolted on one side; can be installed flush Bolted on both legs; may need shimming
Load Direction Shear or tension only Shear, tension, and some bending moment
Cost Lower material, lower processing Slightly higher due to bending or welding
Typical Example Splicing two beam flanges end-to-end Connecting transom to mullion at 90°

If your connection is flat-on-flat, a flat plate is usually the cleaner, cheaper, and faster choice. If your members meet at a corner, you need an angle bracket.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I order a flat plate with six or eight holes instead of four?
Yes. The number of holes is completely flexible. Send your drawing with the required hole count and pattern, and we’ll fabricate accordingly.

2. Do you produce slotted holes on flat plates?
Yes. Slots can be oriented along the length, across the width, or at any specified angle. Specify slot dimensions and tolerance on your drawing.

3. What’s the minimum edge distance you can reliably achieve?
We maintain a minimum edge distance of 1.5× hole diameter from the plate edge. Smaller edge distances may be possible with engineering review.

4. Can you supply countersunk holes?
Yes. Countersunk holes for M6–M20 flat-head bolts are standard. Specify bolt size and head angle (90° standard) on your order.

5. If I need a plate with a non-rectangular shape — can you do it?
Absolutely. Laser cutting allows any contour — triangular, trapezoidal, curved, or irregular. Just provide the DXF or dimensioned drawing.

Why Fabao for Flat Plate Connectors?

  • Laser-Accurate Holes – CNC laser cutting and CNC drilling deliver hole position accuracy within ±0.5mm, every batch.

  • Flatness Guaranteed – Every plate is checked on a granite inspection table. Warped plates are rejected before coating.

  • Custom in Days, Not Weeks – Four-hole flat plates are among our fastest-turnaround custom parts. Standard sizes often ship within 10–15 days.

  • Material Traceability – Mill test certificates for Q235B, Q355B, and stainless steel provided upon request.

  • Mixed Packaging Efficiency – Flat plates nest compactly, so they occupy minimal container space — saving you freight cost.
