Product Description
One Long Bracket Instead of Ten Short Ones
Standard U-brackets are point connectors. You bolt one at each connection node, spaced every 600mm or 1200mm along a beam or tube. They work, but they multiply parts: ten brackets, twenty bolts, forty holes to drill and align.
An extended U-bracket replaces all of them with a single continuous channel. It runs the full length of the supported member — 2 metres, 3 metres, whatever the span requires — and provides continuous bearing along the entire contact surface. Instead of loading ten individual brackets, the installer positions one piece, bolts through pre-drilled holes at the correct spacing, and moves on.
For long-span curtain wall transoms, canopy edge beams, and continuous pipe supports, the extended U-bracket reduces part count, accelerates installation, and delivers uniform load distribution that point connectors can’t match.
Fabao Machinery fabricates extended U-brackets to custom lengths, with hole patterns, slot configurations, and internal widths matched to your structural drawings.
Segmented U-Brackets vs. Continuous Extended U-Bracket
| Factor | Multiple Short U-Brackets | Single Extended U-Bracket |
|---|---|---|
| Part Count | One bracket per connection node | One bracket per span |
| Installation Time | Position, align, and bolt each bracket individually | Position once, bolt at all holes |
| Alignment Consistency | Each bracket aligned independently — risk of cumulative error | All holes aligned from a single reference — zero cumulative error |
| Load Distribution | Concentrated at each bracket | Continuous bearing along full length |
| Inventory & Logistics | Multiple SKUs, multiple cartons | Single SKU per span |
| Best For | Short connections, individual nodes, retrofit | Long-span transoms, canopy edges, continuous pipe runs |

Installation sequence: ① Lift the extended U-bracket into position against the supporting steel → ② Align pre-drilled holes with the mating member holes → ③ Insert all bolts loosely → ④ Check straightness along the full length → ⑤ Torque all bolts to specification. Done. No individual bracket alignment required.

Applications
-
Long-Span Curtain Wall Transom Support – A single extended U-bracket runs the full width of a curtain wall bay, supporting the transom continuously from mullion to mullion — eliminating intermediate brackets and their alignment steps.
-
Canopy Edge Beam Continuous Bearing – Extended U-channels as edge beam seats along cantilevered canopies, providing uniform load transfer and a clean architectural line.
-
Continuous Pipe & Conduit Runs – Extended U-brackets supporting long runs of building services pipework, cable trays, and sprinkler mains along structural steel.
-
Parapet & Balustrade Base Channels – A continuous U-channel at the base of glazed balustrades and parapet posts, providing a level, continuous bearing surface across multiple post positions.
-
Equipment Skid Perimeter Framing – Extended U-brackets forming the perimeter connection between machinery skids and supporting steel platforms in industrial plants.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What lengths can you produce?
Standard lengths from 300mm to 3000mm. Longer lengths (up to 6000mm) are available but may require special shipping arrangements. Contact us with your required length for a feasibility check.
2. How do you ensure hole alignment across a 3-metre-long bracket?
All holes are punched or drilled in a single CNC operation while the flat plate is still in one piece — before bending into the U-shape. This guarantees hole-to-hole spacing accuracy within ±0.5mm, even on the longest brackets.
3. Won’t a long U-bracket warp during galvanizing?
We control for this. Long brackets are galvanized with proper racking and drainage. If any minor straightening is needed post-galvanizing, it’s done before packing. For extra-long lengths (>2000mm), we can add temporary bracing during transit.
4. Can you produce an extended U-bracket with slots instead of round holes?
Yes. Slotted holes at specified intervals are standard practice. We can also mix round and slotted holes on the same bracket — for example, round holes at one end for a fixed reference, slots along the remainder for adjustment.
5. How are extended U-brackets packed for shipping?
Brackets up to 2000mm are packed in reinforced timber crates. Longer brackets (2000–3000mm+) are bundled on steel pallets with timber separators and strapping. All packaging designed for ocean freight handling.
Why Fabao for Extended U-Brackets?
-
Single-Piece Up to 3 Metres – CNC bending capability handles long U-profiles without mid-span joints or splices.
-
Hole Accuracy Over Full Length – Pre-bending hole punching ensures all holes align with the mating member — even at 3000mm.
-
No Cumulative Alignment Error – One bracket, one reference line, zero misalignment stack-up.
-
In-House Galvanizing – Two lines handle long parts with proper racking and full coating coverage.
-
Mixed-SKU Consolidation – Extended U-brackets shipped alongside embed plates, bolts, and other connection parts on a single PO to reduce freight costs.
